Newlite are local bifolding door experts and can help you choose between PVCu, aluminium or timber bifolding doors.

If you are in the market for PVCu or aluminium bifolding doors we offer you both options. Both products are great, fit for purpose and will help you connect your inside and outside spaces. However, if you are unsure of what material is best, we give you some advice.

PVCu bifolding doors have advanced significantly in recent years and are now fantastic affordable options for anyone looking for a bifolding door. An aluminium bifolding door is much more popular with our customer mainly because they are far slimmer and they can go much taller and wider than PVCu doors.

So if you are looking for the slimmest bifolding doors that can give you the largest glass area, we recommend aluminium but will explain the advantages of both.

Your choice of bifolding door will also depend upon the size of the opening it is going into. You will either be replacing old french or sliding doors or creating a new opening to put in new bifolding doors.  For new extensions it is best to go with larger doors to maximise the light and space. The larger the opening, the greater your door options. Bifolding doors will therefore be ideal.

Timber bifolding doors

Nothing can beat the feel of real wood. If your property is the type that calls for timber products, we recommend a timber bifolding door.

Whilst this is the most expensive option (and understandably so) our engineered timber doors are some of the finest you can buy.

Meticulously crafted and built to last they will last a lifetime with only minimal care and look good for years to come.

What else to consider with bifolding doors?

Regardless of PVCu, timber or aluminium bifolding doors, consider how you will use them. If, for example your bifold is your only door out into your garden, we strongly recommend an access leaf.  This is an independent door that opens in or out like a normal hinged door.  It has the advantage of giving you quick access out to your garden or patio, for example to take the rubbish out or simply give you a little ventilation.

An access leaf will enable you to use your doors all year round as needed, without having to slide all the leaves back every time.  So we recommend this.

Bifolding Door Thresholds.

We offer a choice of thresholds for bifolding doors and will be happy to assist you in deciding which type is right for you.  Our doors come with a choice of standard, low or flush thresholds depending upon where they are situated and your own wishes in mind.
