Older properties are sought after and purchased thanks to their period features, high ceilings, large rooms and overall appearance.
Many of us seek to live in a period home that has lots of character and charm. However we are often restricted in what we can do to improve on the existing space.
How Newlite helped improve a Victorian Home.
As local home improvement experts, Newlite were contacted to assist a homeowner in Tonbridge Kent. They had a marvellous Victorian home but desired a larger kitchen. Our brief was to help them gain some more kitchen space but without losing the characteristics of their home.
We worked with our customer helping them decide what was the best option for them bearing in mind their wishes but also to ensure that the adjoining rooms remained functional.
A dramatic kitchen transformation by Newlite.
In order to help them achieve more space we created an extension to the side of the property near the rear French Doors. This comprised the latest generation energy efficient PVCu windows with glazed lean to roof above.
The roof is fitted with the latest specification double glazed units improving the light into the room whilst at the same time providing improved levels of comfort. Given the extra glass now installed high specification units with warm edge spacer bars, Low E coating and argon gas provided this.
The frames now comprise outward opening top hung windows that provide ventilation when needed as well as being large enough to provide big opening windows. To the side are two large fixed picture windows that also help flood the kitchen with lots of natural light.
Our customer is delighted with the overall result. Not only do they now have a brighter and larger kitchen, but the dining room with the french doors can now also lead into the new lean-to conservatory giving an additional access route from kitchen to dining room.
