Choosing between Truedor or Solidor Composite Doors.

Composite Door4
Solidor composite doors come in a vast choice of colours with some stunning designs in the range.

There is no ‘best’ door on the market as every customer requirement is different.  However, composite doors differ in engineering, quality of components and longevity.  For instance, all our composite door ranges differ is in the colours available, the styles you can buy and the various hardware options available. This is why we choose to offer you a choice of products, so the majority of the options available are covered.

One of the most important elements of the composite door is the core. This can be either a high-density foam or a solid timber core. Again there is no better product when both door types meet or exceed the latest security standards. However, a solid thick timber core found in Solidor doors, is better than the synthetic core of the Truedor. As well as being solid timber, it also gives a more solid ‘thud’ when closing the door, making it feel more like a real wood door too.

Therefore a foam core will give you a more cost-effective door. An engineered timber solid core will give you a heavier feel door that arguably is more in line with a real wood door especially when you knock on the door and feel the solid timber core inside. So for this reason, Solidor is the more quality product overall.

Your choice of product will depend on what styles are on offer, the glass patterns available, the handle and locking options and of course, what you like the look of the most.

Outer frame considerations with a composite door.

All composite doors feature a PVCu outer frame. Typically this is the outer frame available with regular PVCu doors that are used to house the composite door leaf. There are many different PVCu systems companies such as Liniar, Rehau, Kommerling, Synseal, Decueninck and others. All these different PVCu profiles can differ in their choice of aesthetic, wood grain foil choices and other colour options.

Your choice of composite door, therefore, may also come down to the outer frame and especially if you already have PVCu windows installed and want to keep to a similar appearance for the frames.
